MICROCHIPPING
All of our dogs are microchipped as are all of our puppies when they leave us. As working gundogs with legally docked tails it is a legal requirement under 2007 government act.
How ever it is always a good idea to have your dog (or any other pet) microchipped. Thousands of pets are lost or stolen every year and many are never reunited with their owners.A microchip is as an effective way of permanently linking pets to their owners, increasing the chances of them being reunited if the animal is lost, stolen or strays.
Once an animal has been microchipped it has its own unique code number. The owner's details and the code are put on to the national PetLog database. If a lost or stolen animal is found, the code will be revealed by passing a scanner over the microchip. Then it's just a matter of matching the code with the PetLog database. Police forces, stray dog kennels, vets, dog wardens and other animal welfare organisations all have scanners to check for micro chips.
One of our puppies, Oscar has a tale to tell of when he spent the morning with the police. When as a young pup he decided to go for a stroll with out his owner and he lost his way. Some one found him and took him to the police station where he was scanned and his owners were promptley contacted and he was quickly reunited with them.
I am a trained microchip implanter and offer a micro chipping service. If you require your pet or working dog chipped at a fair price contact me here.
