sophie 2002 to 2005 RIP
Sophie was born on 12th July 2002. She was bred by Gary Davies of South Hetton,Co Durham. I bought her 5 weeks after getting Zac.She also was of good working stock including names like Jade of Livermere and dogs from Wernffryd and Gwibernant. (see pedigree page) I had thought of breeding them together but decided against it due to not really having the time to devote to such a task.So she was spayed at a young age. She also had an umbilical hernia that I didn't notice when I chose her but that was soon fixed by our vet.
She was a very instinctive little dog a pleasure to train. Like the typical cocker very happy, merry and eager to please. Her little tail wagged none stop. She constantley carried something in her mouth. I could never find my mobile or telly flicker. She never chewed them just carried them about. She loved to scurry and hunt things out and was so happy. I think given the chance she would have been a great little worker.
Sophie and Zac were inseprable, but none of this rubbish about never having 2 pups together. They had a very strong bond but at the end of the day they saw me and my husband as 'pack leaders'. i do think she was the boss over Zac though!!!!!!
She was a good looking girl with a lovely silky coat, that complemented Zac's blue roan. She was loving and very gentle natured, but a little timid of other dogs and children which unfortuntely contributed to her sad loss.
On a lovely summer evening in 2005 sadley Sophie was taken away from us. She was killed in an RTA when some little boys ,who only wanted to play frightened her on the field opposite our house. She took off for home just as a car was coming up the street. It was the first time and the last time she didn't 'wait' when I gave the command. We were shocked and saddend at her loss.

After loosing Sophie we got Floss. She is a liver and white cocker. She is a very leggy cocker and has shorter than average ears, she has very appealing brown spaniel eyes that will always win me over.
She is very soft and placid in nature. She loves to learn and is very eagar to please. She gets along well with the other dogs . She tends to be shy when meeting new people but once she has sussed them out she is a best friend!
In summer 2007 she became a very attentive caring mum to our first ever litter of pups.
She progressed well with her basic gundog training and would have been an excellent worker but unfortunately she was very timid and scared of the guns. She got on well with most my my later additions to the dog family but she and Jess found it difficult to get a long. We had her spayed in an attempt to calm 'the hormones' that we thought might have been causing some of their differences. however things did not settle and in May 2009 we had to choose between them. Because she could not be worked and we had decided not to breed from her again it was with very heavy hearts that we decided to let her go to restore harmoney in the kennel. She now lives with a relative in a happy family environment, with another little dog that she gets on well with. She is happy and healthy and that is what matters. We will still see her for holidays and haircuts and look forward to her visits.
